Jim App Review (2026): Fees, Payouts, and the Real Cost of 1.99%

Jim shows up in every vendor Facebook group with the same pitch: take cards on your phone for 1.99%, get paid in seconds. Both claims are true. What the pitch leaves out is where the money goes and what it costs to get it back out. We read Jim's pricing page, help center, and terms, ran the numbers on real sales volumes, and went through the app store reviews. Here is everything a small business should know before signing up.

    What is the Jim app?

Jim is a mobile payments app that turns an iPhone or Android phone into a card reader using Tap to Pay. It is built by CloudWalk, Inc., the Brazilian fintech behind InfinitePay, which announced Jim's US launch in April 2024. Banking services are provided by Lead Bank, Member FDIC.

Jim is aimed at solo sellers: market vendors, food carts, barbers, mobile repair, cottage food, and anyone who wants to take cards without buying hardware.

How does the Jim app work?

Open the app, type an amount, add a tip if you want, and hold your phone near the customer's card or phone. The money appears on your Jim Visa Prepaid Card within seconds. From there you can spend it anywhere Visa or Apple Pay is accepted, or transfer it to a bank account.

Jim also sends payment links by text, email, or DM, and includes a booking tool and an AI website builder.

How much does the Jim app cost?

The app is free to download, with no monthly fee and no hardware. You pay per sale.

Do you have to pay for the Jim app?

No. Downloading and setting up Jim is free. You only pay when you sell, and again if you move money from the Jim Card to a bank.

How do you get your money from the Jim app?

Every sale funds your Jim Visa Prepaid Card in seconds. You have two ways to use it:

    • Spend it from the card. No fee. The card lives in Apple Wallet and works anywhere Visa is accepted online.
    • Send it to your bank by Same Day ACH. 1.99% + $0.99 per transfer, $15 minimum. Transfers after business hours, on weekends, or on holidays go out the next business day.

There is no free option to move money to your own bank. That is the most important fact in this review.

How can Jim charge only 1.99%?

Card processing has a cost floor. Interchange paid to the customer's bank, card network fees, and processor costs typically add up to close to 2% on an average mix of cards. At 1.99%, Jim prices the tap at or below that floor.

The business model is the Jim Card. Because your sales land on a prepaid card issued by Jim's bank partner, Jim earns when you spend from that card and charges again when you move money out. The bank transfer fee, 1.99% + $0.99, matches the processing fee on the original sale.

None of this is hidden. It is on Jim's pricing page. It just means the 1.99% headline holds only for money you spend from the card.

The real cost of Jim if your money goes to a bank

Worked example: $10,000 a month in tap sales, moved to a bank in four transfers.

    LineAmount
    Tap fees at 1.99%$199.00
    Left on the Jim Card$9,801.00
    Transfer to bank at 1.99%$195.04
    Transfer fees, 4 x $0.99$3.96
    Total cost$398.00
    Effective rate3.98%

The same $10,000 at Simple's 2.19% costs $219 and lands in your bank the next day. That is $179 a month, $2,148 a year.

Add online sales and the gap grows. A $100 payment link costs $5.29 on Jim and $2.19 on Simple.

    When Jim is actually cheaper

If you never move a dollar to a bank, Jim wins. $10,000 of taps costs $199 at Jim against $219 at Simple. On $10,000 a month of taps, Simple becomes cheaper once about 8% of your sales need to reach a bank, or about 23% once you count Simple's $29 monthly plan. Try your own numbers on the calculator.

    What is Jim Profit Booster?

Profit Booster passes the processing fee to your customer: 2.99% on taps and 4.99% + $0.30 online. You keep 100% of the price you enter, and the customer sees the higher total before paying. Before turning it on, check your state's rules on customer fees and think about how a higher total lands at your counter.

    Is the Jim app legit?

Yes. Jim is built by CloudWalk, Inc., an established payments company in Brazil, and funds are held at Lead Bank, Member FDIC. Funds on a registered Jim Card are FDIC insured through Lead Bank up to $250,000; per Jim's own disclosure, that insurance does not cover Jim's own failure, theft, or fraud.

Ratings are strong where the app is easy to love: 4.7 stars on Google Play from about 2,900 reviews. On Trustpilot, where people go to complain, it sits at 3.9 from 22 reviews (as of October 2026).

    What Jim does well

    • Setup in minutes, no hardware
    • Money usable seconds after a sale
    • A low headline rate on taps
    • No monthly fee or contract
    • Booking and an AI website builder at no extra cost

    Where Jim falls short

    • Sales land on a prepaid card, not your bank account
    • Moving money to your bank costs almost as much as the sale did
    • 4.99% + $0.30 online is higher than most processors
    • No inventory, product catalog management, or purchase orders
    • No employee scheduling, time clock, or staff permissions
    • No loyalty program or customer marketing
    • No multi-location support
    • Support by chat and email, no phone line

In app store and Facebook group reviews, the complaints that come up most are the fee to move money to your own bank, transfers or account reviews that took longer than expected, and difficulty reaching a person.

    Who should use Jim?

A seller who takes a handful of taps a week, needs no inventory or staff tools, and is happy to spend sales directly from the Jim Card. A weekend market vendor or a side hustle fits that profile well.

    Who should not use Jim?

Any business that pays rent, payroll, or suppliers from a bank account. Any business that bills by invoice or sells online. Any business with inventory, employees, or more than one location.
