    Last reviewed: September 2026

Simple gives small service businesses estimates, invoicing, scheduling, time tracking and payments in one platform at 2.19% card-present and 2.79% online, with no per-transaction fee and no contract. It suits teams of about 1 to 15 techs who don't need an enterprise system like ServiceTitan.

What does field service software actually do?

Field service management software runs the life of a job, from the first call to the final payment. Most small shops move through the same seven stages. Here is what each one involves and where Simple fits.

    • Quoting. You price the work and send it for approval. Simple sends estimates the customer can sign electronically, and a signed estimate converts to an invoice in one step.
    • Scheduling. Jobs and crews need a calendar. Simple includes online booking with deposits and reminders, plus an employee scheduler for shifts.
    • Dispatching. Dispatch board with live GPS map and route optimization, plus photo and signature capture. Assign jobs to techs, see them on a live map, and optimize their routes.
    • Doing the job. Techs follow checklists and log hours. Simple covers this with forms and checklists, task management, and a GPS and geofenced time clock.
    • Invoicing. Simple handles one-off and recurring invoices, split or partial payments, automated reminders and late fees.
    • Getting paid. Customers pay by payment link with card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or ACH, or in person on a mobile card reader, with next-day and same-day funding available.
    • Follow-up. A customer CRM with segmentation, text and email marketing, and loyalty bring customers back.

What Simple does not cover: a flat-rate pricebook, consumer financing, call tracking or a built-in phone system, equipment service history, truck inventory, and marketing attribution. If those run your business, an enterprise platform is the better choice.

What does field service software cost in 2026?

Prices below are monthly starting points. Processing is where the long-term cost sits, because field service businesses collect most revenue through invoices and payment links, so the online column matters as much as the in-person one.

How much does a 2.19% rate save a service business?

Take a shop doing $40,000 a month in card payments with an average job of $350. Sixty percent is paid in person and forty percent by invoice link, which works out to about 69 in-person and 46 online payments a month.

    Simple: $24,000 x 2.19% + $16,000 x 2.79% = $972/mo, $11,664/yr

    Jobber: $24,000 x 2.7% + 69 x $0.30 + $16,000 x 2.9% + 46 x $0.30 = $1,146.50/mo, $13,758/yr

    Housecall Pro: $24,000 x 2.59% + $16,000 x 2.99% = $1,100/mo, $13,200/yr

Result: about $2,094 a year less than Jobber and $1,536 a year less than Housecall Pro, on processing alone. Read more about how the 2.19% payment processing rate works.
